IMPD arrested 24-year-old Faith Argo for the abandonment of her infant behind a grocery store in the 5400 block of E Thompson Road.
Argo faces a preliminary felony charge of neglect of a dependent.
According to the police report, Argo’s home address is listed as “homeless.”
Another address listed is less than 2 miles from where the baby was found.
An anonymous source who claimed to know the people who found the baby were upset with the media’s reporting.
This is part of what they told me,
“While I agree the mother did the wrong thing by not taking this precious gift from God to a safe place. I feel the reporting is not accurate. The mother left this baby in a pumpkin seat. Clean diaper- full bottle. A note stating she was not able to take care of the baby and he needed a good home. The baby was not dirty whatsoever. Clean clothes. Buckled in correctly.
My heart is shattered to know this woman felt so helpless with no other option. Once she is found she will face charges and rightfully so. Let’s bind together and pray for this woman but more importantly this baby.”
I let the anonymous source know we had not been told any of that by police.
Police did want us to remind everyone how to safely and legally surrender a baby.
